Each year, DPC Members are encouraged to carry out a self-assessment using the DPC Rapid Assessment Model (RAM) and to share their results with us so that they can be collated, summarized, and shared back across the membership. Members can complete an assessment at any point in the year to fit their own schedule.

The DPC RAM, a maturity model for digital preservation, helps organizations of all sizes assess and improve their capacity to preserve digital content.

This year’s report provides a valuable snapshot of digital preservation capacity across the Coalition, showing strengths, trends, and gaps. 

We are pleased to announce that v.121 of PRONOM has now been released. Version 121 features 29 new PUIDs, 29 new signatures and 18 updates.

The countdown is on: In just six weeks, on Thursday 6 November, we’ll be celebrating World Digital Preservation Day (#WDPD2025)!

This global day is our chance to raise awareness of digital preservation and connect with colleagues and organizations around the world. Every year, on the first Thursday of November, the digital preservation community celebrates all things digital preservation, and in 2025 we’re asking the powerful question: “Why Preserve?”

This year’s theme encourages organizations and individuals to share their motivations for digital preservation. What drives your work? What stories are you planning to tell on World Digital Preservation Day?

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome Kommunalförbundet Sydarkivera as its newest Associate Member.

A local federation of 39 municipalities and one region in Sweden, Kommunalförbundet Sydarkivera serves as a shared archive authority for its members. It manages a joint archival system and is responsible for the preservation and long-term archiving of digital information.

"As our members’ preservation agency, our goal is to be an active part of the digital preservation community so we can provide the best possible service to meet our members’ needs - covering the full range of digital objects found across municipalities and regions," says Karin Bredenberg, Metadata Strategist at Kommunalförbundet Sydarkivera.
