Digital Preservation Futures Event Series

Each year in May, we bring togather our DPC Members and Supporters for meaningful communication around key topics, in a way that eneables all parties within our community to work more closely, effectively and harmoniously.

Digital Preservation Futures Webinars (4th - 13th May 2021)

This series of webinars will showcase the product and service offerings of each of our DPC Supporters in turn, before the DPC staff invite speakers to respond on a series of themes which represent our understanding of member interests.

Come along to hear us discuss topics including:

  • AI/Machine Learning
  • Access
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Ethics
  • Exit strategies
  • Inclusivity  and Accessibility
  • Planning
  • Security

Attendees may then pose their own questions on how Supporters might manage their concerns in a question and answer session.

DPC Members are encouraged to attend the webinar sessions as Supporter products and services form an important part of how we address the digital preservation challenge. This series aims to present - in the context of member concerns - a portion of the digital preservation marketplace offerings, in order to help members identify what is still missing and community needs.

Digital Preservation Futures: Future of Storage Event (25th - 26th May 2021)

Taking place on 25th - 26th May over two time zones, this event will discuss a topic which effects both DPC Members and Supporters in different ways and will seek to identify requirements for emerging storage solutions.

Beginning with an introduction to DNA storage as one emerging technology in this discussion space, we will hear from DPC Members Yale University as they present their project to test storage options for digital preservation, before opening the floor for conversation between DPC Members and Supporters to explore requirements for effective digital preservation.

Any commercial organisation may apply for Supporter status and in return will be invited to participate in and extend the activities of the Coalition, with full acknowledgement of their support provided on the DPC website and in relevant publications. Supporters will also have early access to draft outlines of DPC Technology Watch Reports and other published output, invitation to an annual trade fair and horizon scanning meeting with DPC members, as well as the opportunity to showcase products and services through webinars and relevant briefing days.
