DPASSH Conference 2026 (Digital Preservation for the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences)

Ready, Set, Preserve! Making Space for Play in Digital Preservation

in Belfast, Northern/Ireland 

DPASSH (Digital Preservation for the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities) is a biennial event by the Digital Repository of Ireland.The conference seeks to address the complexities of long-term digital preservation in the social and cultural sectors and provide a platform for early career researchers, academics, scholars, cultural heritage and research institutions, as well as libraries, archives and industry to engage with the domain and exchange ideas. 

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC), in collaboration with the Open Book Futures project, is undertaking a study to scope the requirements for resources and/or training materials that support the long-term preservation of electronic theses (e-theses).

As part of this work, we are conducting a consultation to understand what training is most needed - the challenges, gaps in knowledge, and opportunities to better support effective e-thesis preservation.

We are inviting responses from colleagues working in higher education who are either:

• involved in managing e-thesis submission workflows, or

• involved in digital preservation activities

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to announce the launch of its new Research & Development (R&D) Fund, offering targeted grant support for practical projects that help DPC Full Members develop, strengthen, or extend their digital preservation practice. 

Supported by the DPC Supporter Fund - part of the wider DPC Supporter Program - the R&D Fund represents a significant new investment in the global digital preservation community. The 2025–2026 cycle marks the first time the DPC is able to offer grant funding of this kind to its members.

The organizers of the International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC) have opened registration for the IDCC26 Workshops, taking place Monday 16 February in Zagreb. These in-person sessions offer a rich programme designed to help participants strengthen their skills in data curation, research data management, and related practices.

The 20^th edition of the International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC26) organised by the Digital Curation Centre is taking place in Zagreb, Croatia between 16-18 February 2026.

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to give members a one-month preview of its latest Technology Watch Guidance Note: Coordinating an Interdepartmental Rapid Assessment Model by Kari May of the University of Pittsburgh Library System.

This Guidance Note provides a helpful case study, illustrating how one organization planned and carried out an interdepartmental assessment using the DPC’s Rapid Assessment Model (RAM), a tool for quickly evaluating digital preservation maturity and identifying priorities for improvement across eleven capabilities.
