Three new practical resources are now available as part of the DPC’s Digital Preservation Toolkit for Community Archives, expanding the guidance available in response to feedback from the wider digital preservation community.
As part of the Towards a National Collection project ‘Our Heritage, Our Stories’ (OHOS), the Toolkit was created in collaboration with a wide range of community archive groups to help them care for and preserve their digital collections. Digital preservation can seem complex, particularly for smaller organizations with limited time, resources or specialist knowledge, so the Toolkit breaks the basics down into practical, manageable steps.
The three new resources extend this practical support into digitization, cataloguing digitized material and the use of artificial intelligence:
A Basic Digitisation Guide
A basic introduction to converting physical materials into digital formats, with key things to consider before starting a digitization project and suggestions for suitable equipment.
