World Digital Preservation Day 2026 is approaching, and once again we are inviting DPC Members and Supporters to share their perspectives through the DPC blog! Taking place on 5 November, this year’s WDPD theme is: Save Our Stories (SOS): Our digital heritage in danger.
Each year, our blogs form an important part of World Digital Preservation Day, bringing together experiences, ideas and perspectives from across the DPC community.They give us a chance to share what matters to us, learn from one another and, together, raise awareness of why digital preservation is so important.
For WDPD2026, we are asking: Where do you see our digital heritage in danger?
Perhaps important digital collections are at risk of being lost, overlooked or left inaccessible. Maybe changing technologies, disappearing platforms, limited resources, environmental threats or other pressures are putting digital materials at risk. Or perhaps there are stories, communities or types of digital heritage that simply are not receiving the attention they need.
Tell us what is at risk, why it matters, and what needs to happen to help safeguard it. You might highlight a particular collection or challenge, share work already underway, reflect on something your organization has encountered, or draw attention to an area of digital heritage that deserves greater recognition.
Together, these contributions can help show the many different ways our digital heritage is vulnerable and what we can do to help Save Our Stories.
HOW TO CONTRIBUTE:
Your blog can be written in any language and should refer to the #WDPD2026 theme, Save Our Stories (SOS): Our digital heritage in danger.
Blogs can include images and should be around 500–800 words. Don’t worry if yours is a little shorter or longer – this is simply a guide.

A very brief abstract of no more than 220 characters, including spaces

Any photos and links embedded within the Word document

Please submit your blog to Angela Puggioni as a Word document by email by Thursday 29 October at the latest.
World Digital Preservation Day is a global celebration, but it is also a day when our community comes together to make digital preservation more visible. By sharing our stories, experiences and concerns, and by helping one another spread the word, we can reach far beyond our own organizations and show why protecting our digital heritage matters!
