Web Archiving & Preservation Special Interest Group

What is the Web Archiving & Preservation Special Interest Group?

The Web Archiving Special Interest Group (previously the Web Archiving & Preservation Special Interest Group) provides a forum for participants to share experiences, discuss good practice, and identify and address common problems on anything to do with web archiving. It provides an inclusive and mutually supportive environment for continued programme and policy development for DPC members.

There will be opportunities at WA-SIG meetings for members to present their work, and programming will generally be themed to tie to key contemporary topics and challenges in web archiving – for example, emerging challenges such as AI and authenticity, workflows, access and research, and the preservation of web archives. There will also be time for open discussion, knowledge sharing, and the development of further connections amongst members.

Where appropriate WA-SIG will liaise and coordinate with related organizations, events and activities outside of the DPC, such as the IIPC.

How can I get involved?

WA-SIG is open only to current members of the DPC. If you come from a DPC member institution, simply register for upcoming meetings of WA-SIG as they appear on our Events page and come along to learn about web archiving at other institutions and contribute your own experiences and topics for discussion.

Members are also welcome to sign up to the WA-SIG email list (DPC-WEB-ARCHIVING-SIG@JISCMAIL.AC.UK). Please email eleanor.oleary@dpconline.org to join the email list.

If you are not a member of the DPC but have a vested interest in the capture and preservation of web content, you may be interested in joining the Coalition. We would be delighted to work with you! For more information about membership and how to apply, please visit our Join Us page.
