Wikidata for Digital Preservationists: New DPC Technology Watch Guidance Note now available on general release

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) has made the next in its series of Technology Watch Guidance Notes, on Wikidata for Digital Preservationists by Katherine Thornton, available on general release today.
CLOCKSS joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome CLOCKSS, as they become the newest Full Member of the Coalition.
A collaboration between leading research libraries and academic publishers around the globe, CLOCKSS is a digital preservation archive for scholarly content. It focuses on content licensed or published by research libraries, and is currently entrusted to preserve more than 46 million journal articles and 260,000 books. These are held in twelve secure repositories distributed around the world at major academic institutions.
Preserving Born-Digital Design and Construction Records: Member preview of new DPC Technology Watch Report

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) has released a Member Preview of a new Technology Watch Report on Preserving Born-Digital Design and Construction Records by Aliza Leventhal and Jody Thompson, today.
Preserving Born-Digital Design and Construction Records aims to support archival professionals, as well as active designers and facilities managers, considering acquisition, preservation, and access approaches that account for both the technical and cultural components of the broad range of born-digital design and construction records created throughout the course of designing, building, and maintaining a built space.
Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (Sound and Vision) as the Coalition’s newest Associate Member.
Established in 1997, Sound and Vision manages one of the largest digitalized media archives in the world packed with (among others) radio and television recordings, YouTube and TikTok videos, podcasts and games.

DPC Rapid Assessment Model: Japanese translation now available!

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to share a Japanese translation of its Rapid Assessment Model (RAM), with thanks to volunteer contributors.
Now available as a PDF download in Japanese, the second edition of the DPC RAM is a digital preservation maturity modelling tool that has been designed to enable rapid benchmarking of an organization’s digital preservation capability.
“When we first released DPC RAM just over 2 years ago we had no idea it would be embraced by so many across the digital preservation community,” explains Jen Mitcham, Head of Research and Practice for the DPC and one of the DPC RAM co-creators. “To see it translated into different languages and now Japanese is incredibly encouraging. We are really grateful the volunteer translators for making this happen.”

Breaking Down Barriers: DPC shares translations of its popular Digital Preservation Handbook

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to share French and Italian translations of its popular Digital Preservation Handbook, adding to a range of other translated resources.
Now available in the two new languages, the Digital Preservation Handbook identifies good practice in creating, managing and preserving digital materials. By providing a strategic overview of the key issues, advice on strategies and activities and pointers to key projects and reports, the Handbook provides guidance for institutions and individuals and a range of tools to help them identify and take appropriate actions.

Ex Libris re-joins the DPC’s Supporter Program
