New French translations of DPC technology watch guidance notes now available

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to share translations of two more Technology Watch Guidance Notes: Preserving 3D and Wikidata for Digital Preservationists.
Now available in French, the Technology Watch Guidance Notes complement the DPC’s popular Technology Watch Report series. Preserving 3D forms part of the DPC’s Data Type series which is designed to provide a primer on the current state of community knowledge about types of data commonly encountered by those seeking to preserve their digital assets. Wikidata for Digital Preservationists provides practical advice on using, contributing, describing and curating data entries to enable storage and access to trusted data.
Understanding PREMIS: Now Available in Spanish

The PREMIS Editorial Committee has released a Spanish language version of the Understanding PREMIS guide this week.
The guide provides a brief overview of the PREMIS preservation metadata standard, offers an idea of what PREMIS is all about and introduces the PREMIS Data Dictionary for Preservation Metadata.
A New Access Model for Novice to Know-How: Sign-Up to Fit Your Own Schedule!

Over the last couple of months the Digital Preservation Coalition has been working to procure and migrate to a new Learning Management System (LMS). Our LMS is primarily used to host and provide access to the Novice to Know-How (N2KH) courses, developed in partnership with and funded by The National Archives (UK).
Call for Applicants: DPC Grants for NTTW7 in Prague

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to announce it is offering up to two Career Development Fund travel grants to support DPC members attending the 7th edition of The No Time To Wait Conference (#NTTW7), which will be hosted by the Národní filmový archiv and MediaArea.net on November 8th – 10th 2023 at Kino NFA Ponrepo in Prague, Czechia.
These grants, detailed below, will contribute funding to help with the costs of travel for DPC Members attending the conference in person. Applications are welcomed from all DPC Members until the grant application deadline of 7:00 UTC on 11th July 2023.

The organizers of the iPRES 2023 conference are happy to announce the Call for the iPRES 2023 Ad-Hoc Program is now open!
Lightning talks, digital preservation games, Birds of a Feather sessions – once again iPres offers exciting submission categories beyond the traditional paper, panel, poster, workshop, and tutorial submissions. These Ad Hoc sessions are lightly reviewed and are not submitted through the portal, and abstracts are not published in the proceedings. The Ad Hoc is great for experimental and networking activities or ideas that you want to share but don’t feel ready to publish.

DPC Global ‘Bit List’ of Endangered Digital Species 2023 remains open for nominations

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is inviting the digital preservation community to submit nominations of at-risk digital materials to its 2023 edition of the ‘Bit List’ by Friday 30th June.
A free-to-access and open resource for digital preservation advocacy, the DPC's Global Bit List of Endangered Digital Species (or Bit List for short) is a community-sourced list of at-risk digital materials which is revised every two years. Entries to the list are nominated by the community, who are at the forefront of digital preservation efforts, and reviewed by international organizations which represent global expertise in the preservation of the listed digital species.
