The countdown is on: We are just three weeks away from World Digital Preservation Day 2025 (WDPD2025)!
This year’s global celebration officially launches at the iPRES 2025 conference in Wellington, New Zealand (NZDT = UTC +13), setting off a wave of celebrations that will travel around the world on Thursday 6 November - from Asia (UTC +5 to +9) to Europe and Africa (UTC +0 to +3), and on to the Americas (UTC –3 to –8).
On World Digital Preservation Day, archives, libraries, museums, and institutions around the world will share stories, blogs, and events that shine a spotlight on why we preserve - celebrating the people, practices, and purpose behind digital preservation. Will you be blogging, vlogging, or maybe cross-stitching your preservation story?
Behind the scenes, the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) has been preparing some great surprises for WDPD 2025 too! We will launch a global “Why Preserve?” campaign, translated digital preservation resources, a new version of the Global Bit List of Endangered Digital Species and there's more:
