The countdown is on! In just one week, on Thursday 6 November, the global digital preservation community will come together for World Digital Preservation Day (WDPD2025) under the theme “Why Preserve?”

This year’s celebration is extra special. For the first time ever, World Digital Preservation Day falls within THE conference in the digital preservation calendar: iPRES 2025, taking place in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand.  WDPD2025 logo landscape English

Stay tuned for the official opening of World Digital Preservation Day during the closing ceremony of iPRES 2025, where we’ll launch a global Why Preserve? campaign equipping the digital preservation community worldwide with compelling advocacy messages and resources to champion the importance of preserving our digital assets.

From that moment in Wellington (and online!), celebrations will ripple westward across the globe, with a wave of blogs, vlogs, and events showcasing the creativity and dedication of the worldwide digital preservation community in action.

Organized by the DPC and supported by digital preservation networks around the world, WDPD2025 invites everyone to join in: share your stories, blogs, events, and creative takes on Why Preserve?, and help raise awareness for digital preservation everywhere.
