The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to announce ABC Archives has joined as its latest Associate Member.
As a key custodian of Australia’s media heritage, ABC Archives preserves radio, television, photographic and documentary materials from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Australia’s national public media service, helping to document the nation’s society, culture and identity.
Speaking about the new membership, ABC Archives Manager Janelle Mikkelsen says: "ABC Archives looks forward to making a positive contribution as a member of the DPC. We will commit to the mission, goals and principles of the Coalition, and actively participate in the Coalition including but not limited to events, conference and seminars."
Robin Wright, Head of DPC Australasia and Asia-Pacific, also welcomed ABC Archives to the Coalition:
“ABC Archives plays a vital role in preserving Australia’s media heritage, and I am delighted to welcome them to the DPC. Their experience with large-scale broadcast, audiovisual and documentary materials will bring valuable insight to the Coalition’s work, and we are pleased to have their perspective represented within the DPC’s growing membership in Australasia and Asia-Pacific.”
The DPC is an international charitable foundation which supports digital preservation, helping its members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance.
