Developing a Digital Research Repository for the V&A - V&A Doctoral Placement

The V&A is pleased to announce a new doctoral placement opportunity for the 2025–2026 academic year. Applications close on Friday 30 May 2025. As part of our commitment to supporting early-career researchers, the V&A offers a range of doctoral placements designed in collaboration with museum staff. These placements provide PhD students with the opportunity to contribute to live research projects while gaining hands-on experience with museum systems, collections, and research infrastructure.

This placement will support the development and implementation of a digital research repository to ensure the effective management, discoverability, and long-term preservation of the V&A’s research outputs. Working with the Digital Preservation Manager and VARI, the researcher will assess institutional needs, explore potential repository solutions, and develop workflows and standards for metadata, digital compliance, and preservation.
