Helping people understand digital preservation and put it into practice deserves celebration! Today, the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) continues its video series introducing the Digital Preservation Awards 2026 finalists, with a focus on Teaching and Communications. Hear directly from the people sharing knowledge, building confidence and reaching new audiences.

One of eight Awards categories, the Award for Teaching and Communications recognizes excellence in outreach, training and advocacy. It is kindly sponsored by the KB National Library of the Netherlands.

Meet the three outstanding finalists:

  • Brazilian Training Program in Digital Preservation offers modular courses through the Cariniana Network, helping professionals develop preservation knowledge and exchange practical experience.

  • Digital Archives Program Workshop equips small archives in Alberta, Canada, with the skills to begin digital archives programs and preserve audiovisual and optical media.

  • Digital Ghosts - Visualising Scotland's Web Archives uses creative visualizations and artworks to introduce non-specialist audiences to web preservation and the scale of web decay.

Take a few minutes to hear the finalists introduce their work and discover how they are helping others engage with digital preservation.

The winner will be revealed at the Digital Preservation Awards ceremony in Warsaw on Thursday 15 October 2026, hosted by FINA as part of the No Time to Wait 10 conference. Join the celebrations online from 16:00–17:15 UTC (18:00–19:15 in Warsaw), with the livestream available on the Digital Preservation Awards page on the day.

Our finalist video series continues throughout the week, so look out for more stories as we count down to the celebrations!
