The winners of the Digital Preservation Awards 2026 will be revealed this evening at FINA in Warsaw, with audiences worldwide invited to watch the ceremony live!
Organized by the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) every two years, the Digital Preservation Awards are the leading international celebration of achievement in digital preservation. The Awards recognize the people, projects, and organizations making outstanding contributions to securing our digital legacy.
The twelfth edition of the Digital Preservation Awards is generously hosted in Warsaw by MediaArea.net, organizers of the No Time to Wait 10 conference, and Filmoteka Narodowa – Instytut Audiowizualny (FINA). Bringing the Awards to No Time to Wait creates a fitting opportunity to celebrate alongside colleagues dedicated to preserving audiovisual heritage and sharing practical knowledge.
The DPA2026 finalists were selected from 46 entries representing 18 countries - the largest number of nominations in the Awards’ history. Their achievements demonstrate the breadth of digital preservation: protecting cultural heritage and scientific research, developing skills, building partnerships and maintaining the infrastructure on which long-term access depends. Tonight’s celebration recognizes the contribution of every finalist, as well as revealing the winners.
Sarah Middleton, Chief Community Officer at the Digital Preservation Coalition, commented: “Digital preservation depends on expertise and sustained effort that can too often go unrecognized. These Awards bring that work into view, showing how our community is tackling challenges and helping ensure digital information remains available for future generations. Their achievements deserve recognition, and their experience offers valuable lessons for others.”
The Digital Preservation Awards would not be possible without the generous support of our Headline Sponsor Artefactual Systems, our category sponsors and DPC Supporters. Their contributions enable us to recognize outstanding work from around the world and bring the people behind it together to celebrate.
We are especially pleased that the ceremony takes place under the Honorary Patronage of the Ministry of Digital Affairs of the Republic of Poland, bringing national recognition to this international celebration.
Eight awards will be presented this evening:
- The International Council on Archives Award for Collaboration and Cooperation
- The National Library and Archives Board, Singapore Award for Research and Innovation
- The KB National Library of the Netherlands Award for Teaching and Communications
- The DPC Award for the Most Distinguished Student Work in Digital Preservation
- The Research Data Alliance Award for the Most Outstanding Digital Preservation Initiative in Commerce, Industry and the Third Sector
- The National Archives (UK) Award for Safeguarding the Digital Legacy
- The APTrust Award for Resilience, Maintenance and Continuity
- The DPC Fellowship Award, recognizing an individual’s distinguished and sustained contribution to digital preservation.
Friends, families, colleagues and everyone interested in preserving our digital legacy are invited to share in the celebrations online.
