In just five weeks, on Thursday 6 November 2025, the global digital preservation community will come together to celebrate World Digital Preservation Day (#WDPD2025)!

This year’s theme, “Why Preserve?”, invites digital preservation practitioners to reflect on their organization’s motivations for preserving their unique digital collections. Whether it’s safeguarding evidence and accountability, ensuring access to culture and knowledge, reducing risks and costs, or passing today’s stories on to tomorrow’s communities - your “why” matters.

Organized by the DPC and supported by digital preservation networks around the globe, World Digital Preservation Day is open to participation from anyone interested in securing our digital legacy - across all sectors and geographic locations. Join us in a whole day dedicated to discovering digital preservation stories and answers to the question Why Preserve? and share your unique motivations through blog posts, social media posts, events and creative activities!

WDPD logos and stickers now available
We are thrilled to announce that the official WDPD 2025 logos are ready to download in 47 languages, now including Papiamento! Use them on your website, in your email signature, or on social media to promote World Digital Preservation Day in your country.

Back by popular demand, the WDPD stickers are now available to order!* They’re a fun and simple way to start conversations about digital preservation - whether with colleagues, friends, or those new to the community.

Please note: stock is limited and orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Other ways to celebrate
There are so many ways to take part! How about:

  • Hosting a webinar, lightning talk, workshop, or open house

  • Sharing your organization’s “why” in a blog
