Iowa State University Library becomes the newest member of the Digital Preservation Coalition

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to announce the Iowa State University Library has joined as its newest Associate Member. ISU Library Center Red

As an R1, land‑grant university research library in the USA, the Iowa State University Library prioritizes digital preservation. The library strives to ensure digital preservation activities are accessible and manageable for staff who may not be highly technical specialists, enabling broader participation in the stewardship of Iowa State’s digital assets. Preservationists at Iowa State University created a digital preservation roadmap in partnership with AVP in 2019.

New DPC Technology Watch Guidance Note now on general release: Coordinating an Interdepartmental Rapid Assessment Model

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to announce the general release of a new Technology Watch Guidance Note: Coordinating an Interdepartmental Rapid Assessment Model today.

First released to DPC Members in December 2025, Coordinating an Interdepartmental Rapid Assessment Model has been authored by Kari May of the University of Pittsburgh Library System. The new Guidance Note provides a helpful case study, illustrating how one organization planned and carried out an interdepartmental assessment using the DPC’s Rapid Assessment Model (RAM), a tool for quickly evaluating digital preservation maturity and identifying priorities for improvement across eleven capabilities.
