In recognition of the growing need among our members for access to online professional development opportunities, the DPC’s Career Development Fund is pleased to offer six grants for the following opportunities at University College Dublin and Aberystwyth University.

These grants, detailed below, will cover 100% of fees for the specified online courses and are available to all DPC members.

 

Digital Management Online Courses at University College Dublin

The UCD School of Information and Communication Studies is the only academic institution in Ireland to provide undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes leading to research and professionally accredited qualifications in Information and Library Studies and is the only iSchool in Ireland. Up to two grants are available to DPC members. Grant recipients will undertake the 15-credit online Professional Certificate in Digital Information Management programme (UCD programme code W421), which includes the following:

If the student can demonstrate existing mastery of learning outcomes, the introduction module (IS 40800) may be substituted with an independent study project.

The Career Development Fund grant will cover the full cost of the course fees (€1254).

Digital Preservation Online Courses at Aberystwyth University

The Department of Information Studies (DIS) at Aberystwyth University is a leading provider of information and library studies courses, with over 30 years’ experience in delivering distance learning programmes. More information about DIS and their approach is available at https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/dis/.

Up to four grants are available to DPC members. Grant recipients will be able to choose from one of the following DIS Short Courses for CPD by online Distance Learning, and will be asked to indicate their preference on their application.

The Career Development Fund grant will cover the full cost of the selected course fees—£485 for a 10-credit course or £865 for a 20-credit course—for up to four recipients (one grant per recipient).

Important Dates

  • All sections of the relevant Career Development Fund application form should be completed and returned to Amy Currie (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), accompanied by explicit approval for attendance from a supervisor, by 17:00 on Friday 5th June 2020

  • Successful applicants will be notified on or before Friday 19th June 2020

  • Successful applicants will then required to complete the necessary University application forms by Friday 26th June 2020
