Now is the moment to celebrate the work that is securing our digital future, as nominations for the Digital Preservation Awards 2026 draw to a close.

With nominations open until 09:00 UTC on Tuesday 5 May 2026, this is your final opportunity to recognize and share the work - your own or that of others - that is making a difference across our community.

Organized by the Digital Preservation Coalition every two years, the Digital Preservation Awards are the most prominent global celebration of achievement for those people and organizations who have made significant contributions towards a sustainable future for our digital assets.

Established in 2004, the Awards were created to celebrate the excellence and innovation necessary to secure our digital legacy, and to raise awareness of digital preservation in all its forms. They promote, encourage, and celebrate the widest possible participation in digital preservation, defined in the broadest possible terms.

The Digital Preservation Coalition invites its members and the wider digital preservation community to contribute to a global survey identifying humanitarian archives and records at risk of loss.

The survey forms part of the Humanitarian Archives Emergency (HAE) project, led by the Humanitarian Conflict and Response Institute in collaboration with ELRHA, and supported by partners including Key Aid Consulting and the Institute of Development Studies.

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) has launched a new online training course today, N2KH: Advocacy, designed to support digital preservation professionals in communicating the value of their work and building support within their organizations. This training is the latest addition to the Novice to Know-How (N2KH) online learning pathway. Like previous courses in the series, it has been conceived and funded by The National Archives (UK) and delivered by the DPC.

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to share that Digital Preservation Analyst Andrew Jackson is featured in the latest episode of the Code for Thought podcast, hosted by Peter Schmidt.

Launched in 2021, Code for Thought is a podcast about software for research and the people who make it, exploring the tools, practices, and challenges shaping research software today.

To support members working through digital preservation assessments, the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is offering one-to-one “RAM-bulance” and “CAT Scan” support sessions this May.

These confidential sessions give you the opportunity to speak directly with DPC staff about using the Rapid Assessment Model (RAM) and the Competency Audit Toolkit (CAT), whether you’re just getting started or looking for answers to any questions you might have on the model(s), the process(es), and your next steps.

Registration is now open for the Best Practices Exchange 2026 (Un)Conference, which will be held from 18–20 May 2026 at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering at Indiana University Indianapolis, in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.

CLOCKSS will host an upcoming webinar on 30 April 2026 exploring the role of digital preservation within library and information science education, with a focus on Ghana.

The session will draw on experiences from the University of Ghana to examine how current curricula prepare librarians for the practical challenges of managing and preserving digital collections.
