Join the Digital Repository of Ireland, Queen’s University Belfast and the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland next June 2026 for a ‘playful’ conference experience focused on stories of experimentation, creativity - and even failure: the Digital Preservation for the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (DPASSH) Conference!  The call for proposals is open until January 7, 2026.

World Digital Preservation Day (WDPD2025) is just around the corner! Songs, video clips, hackathons, global events and institutions opening their doors showcasing what digital preservation is all about: That’s World Digital Preservation Day in a nutshell. 

This year’s theme, Why Preserve?, invites digital preservation practitioners everywhere to reflect on their organization’s motivations for preserving unique digital collections, to share their stories, and to transform those insights into compelling advocacy messages. Together, we’ll highlight the current digital preservation landscape, outline a path forward, and unite in answering a powerful question: Why Preserve?

The countdown is on: We are just three weeks away from World Digital Preservation Day 2025 (WDPD2025)! 

This year’s global celebration officially launches at the iPRES 2025 conference in Wellington, New Zealand (NZDT = UTC +13), setting off a wave of celebrations that will travel around the world on Thursday 6 November -  from Asia (UTC +5 to +9) to Europe and Africa (UTC +0 to +3), and on to the Americas (UTC –3 to –8).

On World Digital Preservation Day, archives, libraries, museums, and institutions around the world will share stories, blogs, and events that shine a spotlight on why we preserve -  celebrating the people, practices, and purpose behind digital preservation. Will you be blogging, vlogging, or maybe cross-stitching your preservation story?

The NDSA Excellence Awards working group is pleased to share the 2025 Excellence Awards recipients with the NDSA community. Winners were announced and recognized on October 10, 2025 during the NDSA Digital Preservation 2025 conference.
