Byte Christmas
In what is in danger of becoming a new Christmas tradition, here's a festive message to celebrate the upcoming relaunch of the COPTR tool discovery wiki. I'm dreaming of a byte ChristmasWith all the files I used to knowWhere the JPEGs glisten and WAVs to listenTo hear that voice from long ago I'm dreaming of a byte ChristmasWith every replica I writeMay your GIFs be merry and brightAnd may all your checksums be right I'm...
Version 1.2.0 of the Digital Preservation Publications Index is Live
Andy Jackson is Preservation Registries Technical Architect at the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) Last year, the first output from the Registries of Good Practice Project was the first version of the Digital Preservation Publications Index, which focussed on bringing together the proceedings of the iPRES conference series from 2004-2023. Preservation Registries Special Interest Group
What is the Preservation Registries Special Interest Group? When we're preserving digital content, we rely on a wide range of different kinds of information to guide us and learn from. We can't implement our preservation processes without choosing which tools to use. We can't appraise or preserve access to our digital content if we don't know what format it's in. That's why we rely on format registries like PRONOM, tool registries like COPTR, and many more resources, databases and indexes, or...
