The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to announce that the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute (FINA) has joined as its newest Associate Member.
Based in Warsaw, Poland, FINA was established in 2017 through the merger of the National Film Archive, which traces its history back more than 70 years, and the National Audiovisual Institute (NInA). Today, FINA preserves and promotes audiovisual heritage through digitization, restoration, and broad public access.
Alongside the preservation of physical collections, digital preservation plays a central role in FINA's work, supporting the long-term authenticity, integrity, and accessibility of large-scale audiovisual collections.
Jane Winters, Chair of the Digital Preservation Coalition, said: “We are delighted to welcome FINA to the DPC community. Audiovisual collections present some of the most complex and rapidly evolving challenges in digital preservation, and FINA brings a wealth of experience in caring for and providing access to this important heritage. We look forward to the knowledge, perspectives, and expertise they will contribute to our international community.”

Commenting on joining the DPC, Elżbieta Wysocka-Koerber, Director of Digital Collections and Digitisation at FINA, said:
“Joining the Digital Preservation Coalition is an important step in strengthening international collaboration and aligning our work with global standards. We look forward to both contributing to and learning from a community focused on long-term preservation, sustainability of technological choices, and the impact of new technologies on AV archives.”
The DPC looks forward to working with FINA and supporting its continued efforts to preserve and provide access to audiovisual heritage for current and future generations.
