Aboriginal History Archive joins the Digital Preservation Coalition
The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to announce that the Aboriginal History Archive (AHA) has joined the Coalition as an Associate Member.
Based at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia, the Aboriginal History Archive preserves and provides access to records documenting Aboriginal activism, self-determination, land rights, and community histories. Through its collections and partnerships, the Archive supports community-led approaches to preserving and sharing First Nations histories, ensuring these records remain accessible to current and future generations.
Membership of the DPC connects the Archive with an international community committed to securing long-term access to digital content while advancing good practice in digital preservation.
Rachel Kirby, Project Manager at the AHA, said:
“By joining the DPC, the Aboriginal History Archive solidifies its commitment to being a leader in the space of community archives. While committing to upholding digital preservation standards, the AHA also reaffirms its commitment to Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Governance and remains staunch in its values of self-determination and empowering First Nations individuals and communities through access to collective history.”
