Job Summary

The National Records of Scotland (NRS) in Edinburgh is currently seeking applications for a Web Archivist. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.

You will manage, develop, and widen the operations and impact of the NRS Web Continuity Service. This Service provides NRS with the means to capture, preserve and make available archived snapshots of our client organisations’ websites for the public record. The NRS Web Archive is available to access here: https://webarchive.nrscotland.gov.uk/.

Working closely with an international commercial supplier, you will develop your digital archiving skills as part of a collaborative and dynamic team. You will also be responsible for shaping the future of the service, and how it can continue to support NRS in its transition to a digital archive.

Qualifications Required

Post-graduate qualification, recognised by Archives & Records Association.

Essential Criteria

  1. Demonstrable understanding of archival theory and practice, and the particular challenges associated with digital records.
  2. A demonstrable ability to manage information, to draw out key messages and findings in order to support decisions.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the experience of building strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  4. Experience of delivering work in partnership with others, working collaboratively to agreed timelines.
