Both will be known to many already from their work in the digital preservation community. Dorothy comes to the DPC from her position as Digital Preservation Archivist and Manager for York Digital Collections at the University of York. She will lead the DPC's workforce development program, building digital preservation capacity across the sector.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining the team as Head of Workforce Development”, she says. “The DPC has already done such impressive work in this area, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be building on such a strong foundation. I can't wait to get started!" Prior to her position at the University of York, Dorothy worked at Emory University and lectured at San Jose State University’s School of Information. She has a strong track record of community-based projects and initiatives including her work on the award winning Archivist’s Guide to KryoFlux and projects such as OSSArcFlow and the DigiPres North community of practice.

Garth Stewart will assume the role of Head of Good Practice, bringing extensive experience in the field of digital preservation. At the DPC, he will lead the Coalition’s efforts to advance good practices across the sector. “I am over the moon to be joining DPC as Head of Good Practice”, he says. “In such a complex and fast-paced global context, the importance of community learning and collaborative support has never been greater. It will be a privilege to build on the superb work that DPC has already delivered in this area, and support the sector through the next rounds of challenges that will inevitably lie ahead.”

His professional journey has included serving as the Head of the Digital Records Unit at National Records of Scotland, as well as holding curatorial responsibilities at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland and CEDEFOP. He has previously been involved in DPC activities as chair of our Web Archiving and Preservation Special Interest Group and as a member of our DPC Management & Governance sub-committee. Garth also currently serves as an assessor for the UK Archive Accreditation Standard.

Dorothy and Garth will join the team on Wednesday 10th September. We hope you’ll join us in giving them a warm welcome to the DPC!
