The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome DAMsmart to its Supporter Program this month.
Based in Canberra, DAMsmart has provided expert audiovisual digitisation and digital preservation services since 2007. Supporting libraries, archives, museums, broadcasters, and cultural institutions across Australia and the Pacific, DAMsmart delivers preservation-grade digitisation of film, video, and audio. Its workflows support BagIt-compliant packages and preservation-ready metadata, and the team is skilled in recovering content from obsolete formats and endangered media. DAMsmart also offers digital preservation and content modernisation to ensure collections remain accessible and usable into the future.
“DAMsmart is evolving to meet the growing need for digital preservation services. We are developing solutions to support the preservation of born-digital collections, enabling clients to manage, protect and maintain access to their digital assets over time,” explains Adam Hodginskon, Business Manager for DAMsmart. “Through our support of the DPC, we hope to contribute to the global preservation community, stay abreast of evolving best practices, and deepen our expertise as we develop scalable preservation services for a broader range of digital content."
The DPC’s Supporter Program enables a structured, ongoing dialogue between members and solution providers, enabling vendors and solution providers to access and track the changing needs and challenges faced by DPC members.
Robin Wright, Head of Australasia and Asia-Pacific for the DPC, welcomed the news, stating: “The growth of our Supporter community in Australasia is a such a positive development for our members in the region. We look forward to collaborating with DAMsmart to help them strengthen their digital preservation services, and to highlighting the valuable contributions of solution providers across Australasia.”
With a brand new DPC Supporter Program published this month, digital preservation service and solutions providers around the world can access the expert network of the Coalition’s membership through focused activities, as well as the DPC’s broader program of events. A tiered fee structure also offers a route to participation for sole traders and micro-agencies, those operating on a non-profit or charitable basis, new entrants into the digital preservation market, as well as larger agencies.
Funds raised by the DPC Supporter Program are used to support grants to members for training and workforce development, to subsidize training workshops or to sponsor DPC membership for charities and not-for-profits as well as championing outstanding work in our field through the Digital Preservation Awards.
The DPC enables its members to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through advocacy, community engagement, workforce development, capacity-building, good practice and good governance.
