Heriot Watt University logoHeriot-Watt University is the latest organization to join the Digital Preservation Coalition, as they become Associate Member.

With campuses in Edinburgh, the Scottish Borders, Orkney, Malaysia and Dubai, the University is moving towards a digital only environment, which has been accelerated by the pandemic and remote working and teaching.

The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University), as they become the Coalition’s newest Associate Member.

With three campuses and two sites in Australia, two campuses in Vietnam and a research and industry collaboration centre in Spain, RMIT University Archives and the Library are required to manage long-term preservation of the digital assets and cultural heritage of a global university.

With a vision to be South Africa’s information hub of choice, among the top research libraries in the world, Wits University Library strives to provide inclusive environments for accessing, producing and sharing knowledge. The Library manages the institutional digitisation centre, digital library and archival repositories and are therefore mandated with the preservation of these digital objects.

The Digital Preservation Coalition welcomes the City of Edinburgh Council as its newest member

EdinCC bannerThe City of Edinburgh Council has joined the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC), becoming the Coalition’s newest Associate Member.

As a Scottish Local Authority, the Council and its Archives have significant long-term and permanent retention requirements around the records it manages. Recognising that the majority of records are now produced digitally, the Council is working to enhance its digital preservation capabilities to ensure these are kept in line with legal and social expectations.

Archivo Nacional de Chile joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

El Archivo Nacional de Chile, the National Archives of Chile, has joined the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) this month, becoming its newest Associate Member.

Responsible for the permanent preservation of records generated by over 1900 public institutions in Chile, the Archives must provide long-term digital preservation services.

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome CLOCKSS, as they become the newest Full Member of the Coalition.

A collaboration between leading research libraries and academic publishers around the globe, CLOCKSS is a digital preservation archive for scholarly content. It focuses on content licensed or published by research libraries, and is currently entrusted to preserve more than 46 million journal articles and 260,000 books. These are held in twelve secure repositories distributed around the world at major academic institutions.

Established in 1997, Sound and Vision manages one of the largest digitalized media archives in the world packed with (among others) radio and television recordings, YouTube and TikTok videos, podcasts and games.

Houses of the Oireachtas joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

HouseOir bannerThe Houses of the Oireachtas (the National Parliament of Ireland) has joined the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) this month, becoming the Coalition’s newest Associate Member.

The Oireachtas Library has been serving parliamentarians since 1924 by delivering library and information services that support the work of both Houses of the Oireachtas, Committees and individual Members. The Archive is currently being established to centralise and safeguard the records and archives of the Oireachtas.

J. Paul Getty Trust joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes the J. Paul Getty Trust, as they become the newest Associate Member of the Coalition.

A multifaceted cultural heritage organization consisting of the Getty Conservation Institute, Getty Foundation, Getty Museum, and Getty Research Institute, the J. Paul Getty Trust (Getty) is dedicated to the presentation, conservation, and interpretation of the world's artistic legacy.

With an active program of digital preservation activities in place for over a decade, a Trust-wide position was created in 2018 to specifically address digital preservation issues across the institution.
