Each year, the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes new voices to help guide our work—and this is your opportunity to get involved! We are inviting expressions of interest from DPC Members to join one of our six dynamic Sub-Committees or to become a Non-Executive Director on the DPC Executive Board.
Why join a Sub-Committee?
Our Sub-Committees meet quarterly for around two hours and play a vital role in shaping the DPC’s priorities and initiatives, by:
-
Reviewing plans and proposals for new activities
-
Overseeing grant applications and special projects
-
Providing insight and feedback from the global digital preservation community
Each Sub-Committee has a unique and meaningful remit, for example:
-
Good Practice – Guides our thematic events program and acts as editorial board for the Technology Watch series
-
Workforce Development – Oversees grant awards and the delivery of key training resources
-
Advocacy & Community Engagement – Leads on the DPC’s key campaigns like the Bit List, Digital Preservation Awards and World Digital Preservation Day
-
Management & Governance – Guides financial, administrative and environmental accountability
-
Plus, we have two committees focused on our work in Australasia & Asia-Pacific and the Americas
These groups are lively, creative and collaborative, bringing together practical experience from diverse sectors and geographies. No one is too junior or not sufficiently qualified - we especially encourage participation from those members of our community whose voices have historically been underrepresented. All perspectives matter.
Membership of Sub-Committees is open to all current DPC members (one participant per institution) for an initial 12-month term, with rotation after 24 months. Committees aim for global representation and diversity of experience.
Interested in taking a leadership role?
The DPC is also seeking expressions of interest from Full Members for upcoming vacancies on our Executive Board. Non-Executive Directors have the opportunity to:
-
Influence strategy and decision-making at the highest level
-
Carry statutory and fiduciary responsibilities as Trustees
-
Serve up to six years, with training available for prospective directors
The next substantive vacancy will arise in May 2026, but we are inviting interest now so new directors can shadow the Board and prepare for appointment later this year.
How to apply
For more information, or if you would like to participate in a DPC Sub-Committee or on the Executive Board, DPC Members should log-in to access and complete the expression of interest form.
