Lancaster

£35,326 to £40,927

Full-Time

Our new library vision, The Library Towards 2025, sets out our ambitions to be a library that is connected, that goes beyond providing just a service and building, and works in partnership with all Lancaster University communities.  Digital is at the heart of this vision, and our ambition is to be a library where there is no separation between digital and physical.

We are seeking a technically experienced and proactive individual to join our Library Digital Innovation team.   You will work with library staff and other stakeholders to define requirements for digital services, and use your advanced technical skills to build new digital services and system integrations, and develop and maintain existing services.

You will bring excellent digital development skills, with experience of modern full-stack web application and API development, user interface development skills, and experience of developing and maintaining operational services.  You will ideally have experience of managing digital systems used in academic libraries as well as experience of developing containerised applications and managing container orchestration platforms.

Interpersonal and communication skills are equally important to the role, and you will be comfortable working with Library staff who do not have a technical background, as well as technical colleagues in the Digital Innovation team and in the University’s IT department (ISS).

You will be able to work some of their time remotely, with the exact proportion of remote working to be determined in discussion with the line manager and in accordance with University guidelines.

This is a full time indefinite post.

The University strives to be diverse and inclusive, a place where we can all be ourselves. We welcome applications from people in diversity groups, particularly encouraging applications from people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the University.

We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. Consideration will be given to job share applications.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Thomas Shaw, Associate Director: Digital Innovation & Research Services, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
