Summary

Dorset History Centre is looking for a Collections Assistant to support the preservation of Dorset's digital memory. 

Dorset History Centre, in Dorchester, collects, houses and makes accessible to the public the archive and local studies collections for Dorset. This encompasses archives of all formats, including those created in a digital environment. 

Fixed term – 2 years

What you will be doing

You will assist in processing and providing access to digital collections using standard and specialist IT systems. This will involve following procedures and listing archival material in accordance with national and in-house guidelines. 

About you 

You will be confident using a range of IT software and systems and be willing to learn new skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential and an interest in local history would be an advantage.
