IPHES-CERCA, a research institute in Prehistoric Archaeology are looking candidates to a 4 year predoctoral contract to prepare a PhD about the Data Management in Prehistoric Archaeology, and specifically to define an open archaeological data life-cycle, including the development of data acquisition (Arch-e System 3.0 https://www.iphes.cat/archaeological-data-registration-arch%c2%b7e), the implementation of FAIR data for long-term preservation and re-use, and the adaptation of storage and analysis tools for openness and re-use of data.

The candidate is expected to conduct original research on these topics. The activities include data management analysis, its application to archaeo-stratigraphic study cases, the participation in the fieldwork of IPHES-CERCA, and implementation of simulations and software development in Open Science practices.

We offer a 4 years Training Predoctoral Research Contract according to the Spanish law, and the salary conditions stipulated by the ministerial official call of the Spanish government.

The grant is a 4 years Spanish laboral contract with Spanish salary conditions for PhD students: 17.222 euros gross salary 1st year, 18.452 euros 2nd year, and 23.065 euros for the 3rd and 4th year, plus a bonus of 6.860 euros to cover fees enrolment or travels during the 4 years.

Applicant requirements: the candidate must meet the requirements to be accepted in the Universitat Rovira i Virgili Doctorate program in Quaternary and Prehistory. - Engagement with Open Science practices in a broad sense, but specially in the related fields of the spatial archaeology and archeo-stratigraphic studies of Prehistoric sites.
- Skills in database management, organisation, programming and maintenance.
- Interest in the development of client-server applications.
