Under the supervision of the University Archivist, the Archives and Records Management Officer supports the activities of the Archives, to ensure updated archival and records procedures and practices, and provides professional services to the Archives unit. Analyse, interpret and apply Archives and Records management regulations, policies and guidelines. Develop and implement retention schedules, managing the retrieval of records and maintaining the integrity of the records management system. Liaison and collaborate with other University units.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional expertise and advice in the development and implementation of policies, programs and systems related to archives and records management program

  • Participate in the development and implementation of updated archives and records policies and procedures

  • Participate in the analysis of university-wide records requirements including compliance, information management and organizational and operational impact

  • Analyze overall effectiveness with respect to goals and objectives of the programs ensuring that the unit has the correct tools and processes for its works

  • Provide advice and recommendations to the University Archivist on operational needs and planning

  • Liaise with department heads or delegates concerning records management services in their units, including classification, transfer and disposition procedures

  • Manage the Archives’ physical and digital storage facilities and external suppliers taking into account preservation management, holdings control and security requirements

  • Collaborate with the archives and records management administrative and professional staff

  • Undertake historical or other research projects on policy issues and best practices applicable to the Archives and Records Management program.
