The Digital Preservation Coalition is pleased to offer one scholarship to its members to enable them to enable them to attend the 2018 Winter School for Audio-visual Archiving.

The Winter School is a three-day training course held in Hilversum, The Netherlands, 7-9 February 2018, and is specially designed for professionals who conserve audiovisual collections. During the Winter School the training team will guide participants through the process of developing a digital preservation plan for their audiovisual materials. The trainers are:

  • Erwin Verbruggen, project lead Research and Development Sound and Vision
  • Kara van Malsen, partner and senior consultant at AVPreserve
  • Peter Bubestinger, independent digital audiovisual preservation specialist

Programme
The Winter School is about providing practical knowledge: starting with the basis for digital preservation of audiovisual materials and finish with mapping participants' own insights and policy on conserving them. Topics discussed during the Winter School include:

  • Risks for digital durability,
  • Applying OAIS model for audiovisual collections,
  • Digital preservation planning,
  • Ingest & acquisition,
  • File formats & data management,
  • Data storage and migration.

The Digital Preservation Coalition is pleased to offer one scholarship which meet the full registration costs of the course (c. 1500€). Applications are welcomed from all DPC members and associates.
