The third edition of the DPC’s Technology Watch Report on Preservation Metadata is currently under development. Its approach to the subject will be completely revised to include a broader overview than previous versions, notably incorporating standards such as METS, BagIt, and PCDM. Furthermore, it will adopt a more practical approach by providing numerous examples and emphasizing the development of application profiles for existing metadata formats. This session aims first to present the overall structure of the new document and its approach to the subject, using the content of a few sections as examples. There will then be an opportunity to gather participants' expectations and suggestions to best guide the final document.

Bertrand Caron is an internationally recognized expert in the field of preservation metadata. Formerly a digital preservation analyst at the BnF, Bertrand is now part of the team working on the EOSC EDEN project to identify practices to support the creation of curation, long-term preservation, and access strategies in Europe.

The DPC Community is guided by the values set out in our Strategic Plan and aims to be respectful, welcoming, inclusive and transparent - the same applies to #DPConnect sessions. We encourage diversity in all its forms and are committed to being accessible to everyone who wishes to engage with the topic of digital preservation, whilst remaining technology and vendor neutral. We ask all those who are part of this community and/or attending a #DPConnect session to be positive, accepting, and sensitive to the needs and feelings of others in alignment with our DPC Inclusion & Diversity Policy.
