Catalyzing African Community Archives for Social Good (CACASG) is a collaborative project of the University of Illinois, African archivists, the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC), and Knowledge Management for Development (KM4Dev). The project seeks to foster the preservation of African knowledge and cultural heritage, developing memory practices that enable local organizations and communities to tell their stories in their own narratives.
In this DP Clinic, project participants will provide an overview of the work to date, as well as a preview of the self-paced training modules, which are available through the project website at https://cacasg.library.illinois.edu/.
Chris Prom is currently Coordinator for Sponsored Research Development and Acting Head of the History, Philosophy, and Newspaper Library at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. From 2013-20, he served as Publications Editor and Chair of the Publications Board of the Society of American Archivists, and he is also a Fellow of the Society. He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Illinois.

DPC Inclusion & Diversity Policy
The DPC Community is guided by the values set out in our Strategic Plan and aims to be respectful, welcoming, inclusive and transparent - the same applies to #DPConnect sessions. We encourage diversity in all its forms and are committed to being accessible to everyone who wishes to engage with the topic of digital preservation, whilst remaining technology and vendor neutral. We ask all those who are part of this community and/or attending a #DPConnect session to be positive, accepting, and sensitive to the needs and feelings of others in alignment with our DPC Inclusion & Diversity Policy.
Zoom may now require you to have a personal account in order to join a meeting. Therefore please could you register for an account in advance of #DPConnect, if you do not have one already. The sign up link is here: https://zoom.us/signup
