RAM Jam New Zealand

3 Oct 2023 at 10:00am - 3 Oct 2023 at 5:00pm NZDT
Wellington
General

In a jam with digital preservation? Don't know how to make some real progress? This workshop will introduce the DPC's Rapid Assessment Model and will guide you through the process of applying it to your own organisation. We'll then use the results as a framework to think about and discuss how you can tackle the challenges you're facing. RAM provides a way of quickly assessing your digital preservation maturity across 11 different capabilities, and setting targets for where you would like to be.

It is assumed that attendees have some basic knowledge of digital preservation. DPC RAM itself will be introduced in the workshop but it will be helpful if you have familiarised yourself with it in advance. If you've already performed a RAM assessment, bring it along with you.

For a quick introduction to DPC RAM before the event please watch the short introductory video below.

During the workshop each of the eleven sections of DPC RAM will be introduced. Participants will have an opportunity to assess their current level and targets. We'll then have a conversation as a group about the obstacles faced and how to move forward to your targets. We'll also hear short recordings from a number of DPC members on how they tackled challenges at their organisations.

The workshop will be friendly, interactive and informal. We’ll adjust the pace and content to the needs of the participants. To maintain the confidentiality of Member’s DPC RAM self-assessments this workshop will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule.

A light lunch will be provided for participants.
