Dr. Adam Girard, Digital Archivist at the Irish Traditional Music Archive will discuss the process of upgrading an audio digitisation studio. This informal chat will address audio formats in ITMA’s collections, and a variety of considerations for planning key upgrades. This will include acoustic treatment, mains power solutions, playback equipment, digitisation workflow and more. This talk will be of interest to audio visual preservation specialists at any stage of their careers, from novices to seasoned veterans.
The Audiovisual Working Group (AVWG) brings together DPC Members in order to discuss issues and challenges relating to the preservation of digital content that is either audio, video, or both. The AVWG provides an opportunity to share experiences, discuss good practice, and identify and address common problems. It aims to complement, not duplicate, the activities of any pre-existing groups, meetings, or activities that address the long-term preservation of AV content. Priority is given to discussions of real-world experiences and examples of proven good practice.
