This training will be an online event via Zoom on the 8th of June at 1pm UTC/2pm BST (click for your local time).

DPC’s values of transparency and accountability, as well as our status as a charity, encourage us to provide training to all existing, new and emerging directors so that they can understand their responsibilities and interpret effectively the information they receive.  This gives them the capacity to oversee and direct the DPC in compliance with best practice and in full knowledge of the risks and opportunities which we face.  It ensures that effective and highly-skilled leadership is distributed across the membership and that competency-based roles are open to all.  This year, recognizing the growing complexity of the DPC’s program, we are introducing a training program for directors, including new and emerging leaders across the whole of our membership.

This session will outline and examine the roles, responsibilities and competencies of company directors, with particular attention to the regulation of charities, and it will examine DPC’s policies and procedures that respond to the legal requirements that arise.  Although framed by DPC company registration in English Law and charitable registration in Scots’ Law the principles laid out are comparable across many jurisdictions and other contexts, so our intention is that participants will be able to understand and apply the lessons within senior leadership roles in a wide range of organisations.

Executive Board and Representative Council members will receive an invitation to this meeting.
