This exciting role will be based at the British Library but will provide a service to all six UK Legal Deposit Libraries (British Library; The National Library of Wales; The National Library of Scotland; Trinity College Dublin; Cambridge University Library; The Bodleian Libraries).

The main purpose being to translate technical requirements, inform technical projects and build strong and open relationships between the technical departments of each of the Legal Deposit Libraries. The Legal Deposit Libraries Technical Relationship and Project Manager will also lead, or project-manage, specific legal deposit initiatives on behalf of all six Legal Deposit Libraries, be responsible for project budget and resource allocation and coordinate and undertake research to facilitate the activities related to Legal Deposit. The role will also require the holder to provide appropriate relationship management and technical communications to government and publisher stakeholders for all things relating to Legal Deposit.

The successful applicant will have experience of working in an academic or research library as a qualified librarian or in a project management role, with an understanding of electronic publishing.

Educated to degree level, the candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organisation. They must demonstrate their ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences both written and verbally. Excellent planning and coordination skills with a familiarity of project structures. And an ability to work in a matrix environment and successfully deal with the stakeholders’ potentially conflicting priorities and objectives. The successful candidate will be analytical with an ability to conduct research and analysis and present their findings in a report. The candidate must be willing to travel to each Legal Deposit Library as required to build and maintain the relationships.
