Not Game Over: A Digital Preservation Game Jam

The ARA Section for Archives and Technology are a hosting a Digital Preservation Game Jam in collaboration with the University College London Information Studies Department.

This day-long in-person workshop will allow participants to work in teams to create both digital and analogue games with the goal to create engaging resources that encourage people to become more familiar with digital preservation concepts.

Environmental Impact and Digital Preservation: New Technology Watch Guidance Note now available on member preview

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to give members a preview of the next in its series of Technology Watch Guidance Notes, Environmental Impact and Digital Preservation by Eira Tansey of Memory Rising, today.

The new Guidance Note gives readers a brief but wide-ranging introduction to how digital preservation activities can both affect, and be affected by, environmental change. The report examines the implicit assumptions of digital preservation, and identifies how changes in the environment might require us to re-think the risks we face and our plans to mitigate such threats.

DPC RAM 3.0 now available!

DPCRAMThe Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) has launched an updated version of its Rapid Assessment Model (DPC RAM) today.

Designed to enable rapid benchmarking of an organization’s digital preservation capability, DPC RAM is a digital preservation maturity modelling tool which aims to be applicable for organizations of any size in any sector, and for all content of long-term value. It uses existing good practice to offer a model which is easy to understand, quick to apply and is freely available for anyone to use.

Volunteer to join the PREMIS Editorial Committee

The PREMIS EC is seeking to fill up 3 vacancies on the Editorial Committee (EC). 

The EC meets monthly, with smaller EC working groups focusing on specific tasks–like outreach, rights statements, and other topics–meet regularly outside of the monthly EC meeting. It would be expected for EC members to be able to devote regular time to committee work.
