The Digital Preservation Coalition is pleased to offer four fully funded scholarships to attend the upcoming 2014 instances of ULCC’s Digital Preservation Training Programme at Senate House, University of London, London; and at the Wellcome Library, London.

he Digital Preservation Training Programme (DPTP) is designed for all those working in institutional information management who are grappling with fundamental issues of digital preservation. It has recently been redesigned and is now offered as two separate courses: an introductory course and an intermediate course.

Reflecting this new structure the DPC will be offering two scholarships for DPTP: An Introduction to Digital Preservation, 24th-25th November 2014, and two scholarships for the intermediate course DPTP: The Practice of Digital Preservation, 9th-11th December 2014.

The Introduction to Digital Preservation is a two day long, entry-level course aimed at complete beginners who wish to learn more about the field. It is ideal for starters in all disciplines who want to know more about digital preservation. The course is a starting point. It complements the regular Digital Preservation Coalition Event Getting Started in Digital Preservation, and has been devised in full co-operation with the DPC. It provides a grounding in the subject area, including basic knowledge of the range of issues that shape developments in digital preservation.

The Practice of Digital Preservation is aimed at those practitioners who are already working in digital preservation and who wish to broaden their working knowledge of the field. It is ideal for practitioners in all sectors who want to know more about applying practices in their day-to-day work. This practitioner course builds on and complements the Introduction to Digital Preservation. Students who attend are expected to be familiar with the OAIS Model, its concepts, and its terminology. It also aims to give students confidence in continuing to maintain their own current awareness afterwards through further reading, future professional development training and continuing to develop their own practical skills through their own continued experience of engaging with digital preservation.

See the attached announcement giving details of this programme or visit the ULCC/ DPTP website for details of the course. Please use the scholarship application form when applying for this grant.
