The Digital Preservation Coalition is delighted to announce the next set of finalists for the 2016 Digital Preservation Awards, from the Teaching and Communications Category.

DPA2016_LogoThe prestigious Digital Preservation Awards is a world-wide celebration of the achievements of those people and organisations who have made significant and innovative contributions to ensuring our generation’s digital legacy will be available tomorrow. It culminates in an eagerly anticipated awards ceremony at the Wellcome Trust in London on Wednesday 30th November 2016.

Sponsor of the Award for Teaching and Communications, Marcel Ras of the NCDD (Dutch Coalition for Digital Preservation) said, ‘we are so encouraged to see so many new and excellent teaching and communications resources designed to help the whole community in our shared quest to maintain continued access to digital objects. Even before we decide the winners, we are all better off with the work undertaken by these three projects.’

Finalists for the NCDD Award for Teaching and Communications are (in no particular order):

  • Transforming Archives/Opening Up Scotland’s Archives
  • Tate, MoMA and SFMoMA: Digital Preservation - Sustaining Media Art (A Matters in Media Project)
  • Research Data Netherlands: Essentials 4 Data Support, an introductory course on Research Data Management
Before the judges decide the winners, members of the Digital Preservation Coalition will be invited to cast their vote on each category once all the finalists have been announced. Members will be asked to select their first and second choices for each category, and are asked to provide feedback to the finalists. Each Full Member, Associate and Allied Organisation of the DPC may submit one vote.

Finalists will then wait until the prestigious Digital Preservation Awards ceremony at the Wellcome Trust in London where winners will be announced in front of their own digital preservation community, friends, family and peers from leading organisations.
