The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to share a full program of events for Supporters for the next 12 months. The program is filled with opportunities, activities and benefits designed to enable better and more meaningful communication between members and solution providers on ‘neutral’ ground, and in a way that all parties work more closely, effectively and harmoniously.
Recognizing the need for an environment where solution providers and members can collaborate and learn from each other, the Supporter program is good news for vendors, who already contribute much needed perspectives into the DPC’s discussions on an ad hoc basis; and for members, with the program enabling much greater insight into their needs and requirements.
“All funds raised by the Supporter Program will be used in first instance to support grants to members for training and workforce development as well as the Annual Student conference, to subsidize training workshops or to sponsor DPC membership for charities and not-for-profits,” explains the DPC’s Head of Communications and Advocacy, Sarah Middleton, “so it really is a good thing!”
Highlights of the year include the DPC’s first ever community forum ‘Digital Preservation Futures,’ an extension of the DPC Member’s Unconference ‘Connecting the Bits’, which will summarize the key challenges anticipated by members before providing a forum for open collaboration between users and solution providers.
With additional opportunities to engage with members and the digital preservation community through the DPC blog, webinars, news pages, and advocacy activities, Supporters are able to support efforts to ensure services are tightly matched to shifting requirements by participating in relevant discussions and fora.
Supporters also receive free-of-charge invited admission to selected DPC events, training workshops and priority access to publications and online content.
Any commercial organisation may apply for Supporter status. Applications for Supporter status will be assessed on individual merits and will be subject to review by the DPC Board, drawn from its members.
