The DPC campaigns for digital preservation and long term access to be a feature of public policy and routinely advises Government and related agencies on issues that are relevant to our members and our mandate. In this section we publish a commentary of public policy consultations relating to digital preservation.

• March 2010 - DPC responds to the IPO Review of Preservation Exceptions to Copyright with a detailed discussion of how these will impact on digital preservation.
• March 2010 - DPC responds to the Electronic Legal Deposit Consultation, calling for the implementation of permissions based harvesting and noting that access in any form is only possible with appropriate preservation.
• October 2009 - DPC responds to part three of the National Heritage Science Strategy consultation by noting that the distinctive capacity required to preserve digital objects has been overlooked and calling for efforts to improve capacity within the sector as a priority.
• October 2009 - DPC responds to part two of the National Heritage Science Strategy consultation suggesting ways in which the strategy could be aligned with an existing set of initiatives which are enhancing long term access and long term opportunity with digital resources.
• September 2009 - DPC respond to part one of the National Heritage Science Strategy consultation arguing that threats to the digital estate are distinctive. Conventional conservation and preservation actions will not be sufficient to the challenge of digital preservation, nor will benign neglect provide a serendipitous digital heritage.
• August 2009 - DPC responds to the Archives for the Twenty-first Century consultation noting that the 'challenge of managing long term digital access is one that the UK is well placed to address.
• March 2009 - DPC welcomes Digital Britain Interim Report and calls for greater clarity and consideration of digital legacy, especially where this pertains to content.
