The DPC is delighted to welcome the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority as its latest full member.

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is a non-departmental public body set up to ensure that the UK’s 17 designated civil public sector nuclear sites are decommissioned and cleaned up safely and efficiently. Managing Director of the NDA National Archives, Simon Tucker recognises the enormous challenge of maintaining access to digital resources and believes “the DPC’s expertise in long-term digital information management will bring major benefits to our information governance programme.”

William Kilbride, Executive Director of the Digital Preservation Coalition said 'I am very pleased to welcome the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to the DPC and believe that the expertise which DPC members share can help provide solutions to some of the challenges being faced by the NDA National Archives. They have a diverse range of records and I look forward to helping them safeguard their digital legacy.‘Nuclear power is heavily regulated sector with lifecycles for data and products running to many decades. That creates urgent and important requirements for first class records management and preservation. It’s great that the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority has joined us and we hope that other regulators will follow their lead.’

Laura Mitchell, Chair of the DPC also welcomed the NDA and noted “It is wonderful to hear that the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority have a strong commitment to digital preservation and I look forward to hearing more about their new Archive facility which is being planned for Wick.”
